Music, Emotions, and Colours.

This term we have been learning about music, the 6 different emotions and colours that relates to the different emotions. My buddy and I were struggling while finding the songs that we thought would suit the word. During this task I learnt that different music and sounds that other people play including myself, leads up to how I feel.

Maths Problems 2

Area L3 - Maths

WALT: Find the area of objects


This week for learning we are doing Areas, We are learning to find the area of different objects. From this task I learnt how to find the different areas of the object. Quality blog comments

This week with Mrs Shearing we learnt about leaving a quality blog comment. She took us through different steps, the first step was that we had to look for a school from the manaiakalani website and then pick a child with their own individual blog, our next step was to create a quality blog comment on a blank slide before publishing it onto the actual blog post. Then once we have finished editing it then we post it onto the actual blog comment. On the top is a screenshot of a girl named Aaliyahna from Glen brae school, she wrote about her trip down to Auckland girls grammar collage, hope you enjoy.

Tenths and Hundredths

WALT: add tenths and hundredths, use geometric language.



This week room 4's math classes has been learning about decimals, fractions, Mixed fractions, tenths and hundredths. There is a presentation on top that I have filled in from my teacher, in this presentation there is different ways to do tenths and hundredths as a decimal number, mixed fraction, whole number, and even more so don't forget to take a look inside. Popsicle decimals

WALT: Identify and use tenths to make numbers.



This week we have been learning all about decimals. So my teacher decided that we should try something new with decimals like try and sort the questions out with different materials. She decided that we should use popsicle sticks to help us with decimals. 2. What I have learnt from the Families and siblings is that I now know how to use a bit of graphs and grids. The grids are know easy for me to use, before I didn’t know how to use the grids until now.

3. The main differences about my graph and hers is that my graph has the amount of parents, amount of brothers, and amount of sisters that my classroom mates have in their families and Lani’s graph was different to mine because she had numbers of the family’s and she didn’t list hers as how many parents they had and different things to mine.

This week we have been learning all about the different graphs. What this task asked me to do was that it asked me to follow instructions and answer all the questions correctly. I hope that you have learnt something but what I have learnt was that I learnt how to use graphs in many different ways.

Beating the wind

This week we have been learning all about cause and effect. What we did this week was that we had to read a book called " Beating the wind". What I have to do was that I had to answer all the questions that my litracy teacher has gaven us to work on. I hope you enjoy what I have learned.

Too much telly

1: More TV have been watched on Saturday and Friday but homework hasn’t been done on Friday and Saturday.

2: Each of the graphs are different from each other because Jessie missed two days of homework, Ashna didn’t watch TV on Monday and on Thursday, Ruka watched tv 6 ½ times.

3: Yes it is true because the more you watch tv the more you don’t get your homework done and on Jessies graph it says that she spent 14 ½ times watching TV and 2 times on homework, Nina’s graph says that she has spent 11 times watching TV and 5 times spent on homework, Ruka’s graph says that she has spent at least 4 ¼ on doing homework and she spent 11 times watching TV.

Hey guys here is my maths for this week. What my maths work for this week is all about is that it is all about different graphs and how we can use different ways to solve a problem easier. What I learnt this week is that I learnt what the difference about each graphs and here is my work to go with this paragraph. The most clearly graph that shows Room 8’s favourite fruit is the bar graph that Kim made. The reason why I think that it is the bar graph because the bar graph has numbers on the side which easily shows what the most common fruit is, it also has the name of the fruits.

Introuduction to Decimals

This Presentation is all about getting to know decimals, and in this presentation is some questions that our teacher has created for us to try and learn more and more decimals. We have been learning how to put numbers into decimals and many more other things but I won't tell you what the many many more things are I will let you see yourself on the presentation.

Place Value - Decimals

What have we been learning about lately in maths? We were learning how to add decimals to 3 decimal places and I am going to show you some ways of how we can do it. So on the top of this paragraph there is a presentaion all about Decimal - Place Values and how I worked the answers out as well so I am going to explain 1 slide of my work and it is going to be slide 6. Slide 6: Slide 6 is all about translating the writen form into number for for example.

It will actualy be writen like this : Two hundred and fiffty seven thousand, eight hundred and fiffty two point eight one: But the number form would be writen like this: 257,852.81

Te taiao o tamaki - Fractions, Decimals, & percentages

WALT: Understand the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages.


This week we have been learning all about Fractions, decimals and percentages. What we did with them is that we had to try and learn how to convert fractions into decimals into percentages or you could try it the other way. This task asked me to convert fractions into a decimal number and then convert it in the percentages of the number.

Te Taiao O Tamaki - Alphabet multiplication

WALT: understand the relationship between fractions, decimals and percentages.

We are learning all about multiplications and divisions but for this task we have learnt about multiplication, in this task we learnt how to use the alphabet with multiplication. What we had to do is that Mrs Judd created a google drawing for us to work on and what we needed to do is that we had to read the word that Mrs Judd gave us and we had to look on the top where all the numbers are and try find out what number it is that connects with the the word.

Te Taiao O Tamaki - Money and Decimals

WALT: Use multiplication and division to solve fractions problems.

Today I learnt about using decimals in different ways, what I mean about in different ways is like doing it in money ways, weighing ways and many more different ways. This task asked me to solve decimals in addition and in subtraction. What I learnt from this presentation is my money working out, so we I am like sorting out money then I would just know it straight away.

This week we have been learning all about " Fractions". What the task asked me to do is that it asked me to solve fractions using some word problems and showing how I got that answer. What I have learned from this task is that when we are using fractions and divisions we have to split the important number into equal groups. On top of this blurb is a presentation that my teacher has created for us to solve and to learn. Then on the side is pictures of my working out.

Blog journal reflection

So far what I have enjoyed from this year was making new friends and introducing the new ones to this school, I have enjoyed going to tech class and learn new things, I also liked doing my work at school like Maths, reading, writing and inquiry. At school there has been some difficult things like when I am doing my work my friends are talking to me and it is so hard to concentrate on my work.

This year there are many types of new different things like, the classes has changed and it looks new, new friends and many new students, new teachers, and at tech I am a new tech group and I am in cooking. The thing I like in my cooking group is that I get to learn how to cook new things when I go home.

The last thing is the important thing is what I am looking forward to this year. What I am looking forward to this year is getting my levels up in reading and maths. I hope you enjoy my journal reflections.
