Flounder hunting

This morning around 8.30, 12 students from Pt England school went down to Wai o Taiki bay to fish for baby flounders. Around 9am the entire school walked down to Wai o Taiki bay to sing some waiatas and say a pray. The waiata that we sang was " Whakataka te hau" This song is about sea life and things about land and sea.

The reason why we are catching baby flounders instead of bigger ones is cause, we are going to put the baby flownders into our school tank and look after it properly, we are going to feed it and take good care of it so when they grow bigger we can give it back to the awa.

So today we catched 20 baby flounders and kauri flat school catched 4 baby flounders, Here are some pictures of baby flounders and big flounders.  Did you know that flounders can be found in different types for example, there can be baby flounders, big flounders and even cooked flounders.

Persuasive writing - Opinions

This week we are learning all about persuasive writing. This presentation is all about my opinion, what we had to do is that we had to read a box that our teacher gave us and we had to put down our own opinion for example: Children allowed to vote, we had to write down what we think about the opinion, we write down how we felt, and what we believe in.

Reflection padlet - Talking points.

WALT: Participate in a group disscusion by actively listening and speaking

This week we have been learning all about talking points, what we mean by talking points if you don't understand what I am talking about then here it is. It is all about these 4 main key points and they are : 1. Focus Fully( Focus fully means that when someone is trying to talk to you your face would be looking straight into their eyes or would be nodding and would be really into their talk.), 2. Avoid Interrupting ( Avoid interrupting means for example if you are talking and then in the middle of your talk the person that your talking to buds in and then finishes your sentence off.), 3. Avoid seeming judemental, and 4. Show interest. So thoese were the 4 key points on what we learnt.

As you can see on the top of all these blurbs is a padlet that me and my group had a disscusion.

Talking points - 1

WALT: Participate in a group discussion by actively listening and speaking

This week we are learning about talking points and trying to participate in a group discussion by actively listening and speaking. What we had to do on the first step was that our whole class had to watch a video clip as a class that is linked to our reading page. Our teacher noted some of the steps that came out of the video and gave it to us to try and discuss with our group the answers to the questions inside our presentation there are 4 points in the talking points and here they are - 1. Focus Fully, 2. Avoid interrupting, 3. Avoid seeming judegemental, 4. show interest.

4 learning Evidence

WALT -  Summarise information in a text

Hey blog viewers today you are going to see some information about four different texts that I have read about. The four texts are called "What now for the Rena?", "The class newspaper", "Great Barrier Reef", and "Oil spill". These different texts have questions to it and I answerd those questions in a google slide and it is on top of this description. What this task asked me to do was that it asked me to read each text plus the video and fill in the answers on each slides.

This is the ven diagram for George's marvellous medicine. What I had to do with this Ven Diagram is that I had to combine this book with another book that I have read. What the other book was called was "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory from the same author that wrote George's Marvellous medicine.

Te Taiao O tamaki - Thirst

What we are learning to do is to learn about the water cycle. What the water cycle is about is that it is about the earth preventing the same amount of water that we have had on earth the whole entire time. On top of this description is a presentation named "Thirst". What the book " Thirst" is about is a little boy named ryder who when to his neighbors to take some water.

This week we have been learning all about the water cycle. What the task asked me to do is that it asked us to learn about the water cycle and what contains that water pollution. We had to write a letter to the council about the problems we are having with the water. What we are having problems with is the water pollution is that people are littering on the streets and using cars alot.

This weeks task we have to do reading in our literacy classes what we do for our reading is that we have to work out our presentations that we get from our reading and writing teacher named Mrs Iloa, before we do our presentations we get a reading book online and read it. From the presentations there is a slide that says we had to do a poster, what this poster is all about is that it is all about water wise. Up the top of this description is a poster that I have created using google drawing. This poster is all about Appreciating water. My quote says " Appreciate Water Don't Waste Water. My Explanation reconstruction

WALT: Identify the structural features of an explanation text.



Today we are learning about Reconstructing this explanation text so that it flows logically. On the top of this description there is an image that I have taken and it is all about how "How are glass bottles recycled". What I have learned from this task today was that I now know how Glass bottles are recycled. What we did was that we had to put each text in order and re-colour the concluding statement text green, and re-colour the opening statement text purple. My experiment gone wrong - Narrative writing

This week we have been learning about an experiment gone wrong. What we did was that we did a narrative writing about anything but it has to do with an experiment that goes totally wrong.
